INTRO TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT
The Civil Rights Movement was the time period between 1955-1969.The goal of the movement was to get blacks equal opportunities for simple situations like going to school, taking a bus, or drinking from a water fountain. Blacks and whites went through petitions, boycotts, sit-ins, and protests just to fight for their rights of getting rid of segregation and racism. People like MLK, Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X played large rolls in de-segregating and giving blacks the lives they deserved.
