RUBY BRIDGES SCHOOL INTEGRATION
Ruby Bridges was a young African American girl who was ordered by a judge to attend Frantz Elementary in Mississippi, which was an all white school. At the very young age of four, Ruby faced the racism and inequalities of being a black girl in an all white school. She was threatened and extremely unwelcome, many parent even removed their children from the school because she was there, yet that did not prevent her from continuing her education at that school. She changed the way all white schools were run, and marked the start of allowing mixed races in school together.
