Marion Barry
Marion Barry was born on March 6, 1936 in Mississippi. Barry attended Le Moyne College and Fisk University. His heart and dedication was in the Civil Rights Movement, and improving his city while he could. Because this was his passion, he went into the SNCC to serve as the first national chairman. Some of his political ambitions include: he co-founded Pride Inc., won a seat in school board, was mayor quite a few times and was even shot and seen as "unstoppable". Although, he was elected Mayor of DC four times, he did serve his time in 1990 for a minor drug offense. As a result from prison, he got his counsel seat in 1992. Overall, Barry gave thousands of young people summer jobs, decreased racism, provided good examples that somebody can fall and still rise back, and was a major boost to his city. Lastly, in 2002 his political career ended, and now he is a lobbyist and consultant.
