Malcolm X

Picture
Malcolm Little was born in Nebraska on May 19, 1925. Malcolm’s parents were homemaker’s and preachers. When Malcolm was four, they moved to Michigan due to constant harassment from the Ku Klux Klan. His family’s house has been set on fire, his father was killed, and his mother even went into a mental institution because all of the trauma the family went through. Malcolm was the only black student at West Junior High School. He says that he was treated as a class pet, even though he was elected as class president. Later on in life, he was sentenced to ten years in prison, but once out he joined the Nation of Islam. He met Betty Sanders in the group, and they had four children. He was passionate about civil rights, but went against Martin Luther Kings Ideals. He believed that violence was the better, and more efficient way to success and freedom. In 1974, Malcolm X cuts ties with the Nation of Islam because he felt betrayed by the leader for violating his own teachings. A year later, on February 21, Malcolm was going to give a speech, but was shot 15 times by three men. These three men turned out to be apart of the Nation of Islam.
